The Live Celebration. Fashion & Theatre comes to LevenshulmeThe Levenshulme festival has already had its own Beach at the launch of this exhibition so next on its wish list is Live contemporary theatre and Fashion.
This is the second and final installment of the ‘Diversity of Appearance’ show. The collection of work is brought to life with live theatre performances based on the work from performance artists Ceri Rimmer, Jennifer E Jordan and Ellie Harrison.
You have all seen Fashion shows like ‘What not to wear’ and ‘How to look good naked’ and ‘Gok’s Fashion Fix’ Levenshulme brings its own Fashion catwalk to the surburb in the form of wannabe supermodel – Ellie Harrison. While her friend hopes to throw some light on the differences between Amy Winehouse, Axel Rose and Pete Docherty through her electric guitar and the occasional use of a hat and big hair!
Finally Performance artist Ceri Rimmer uses Dance, Physical Theatre and installation to explore the thought ‘that every person is a cage of light’.
Grania Pickard the curator of the exhibition said “Tonight’s show is all about bringing the thrill of live theatre and performance into the intimate setting of m19. Its contemporary subject matter of Fashion and Music will thrill as well as challenge and entertain visitors. Its going to be a great night out and the telly is very boring on a Thursday night so it’s a great excuse to get out the house.”
Admission to the exhibition is free but donations are welcome to the Polio children’s charity that one of the exhibitions is centred around.
